Bride and groom share a romantic moment seated on the staircase at the Belsfield Hotel in Windermere

Hi, I’m Stephen — Your Belsfield Hotel Wedding Photographer

Planning your wedding at The Belsfield Hotel in Bowness-on-Windermere? I’d love to hear what you have in mind. I’m Stephen Rowell, and I’ve spent over 20 years photographing weddings across the Lake District and Cumbria.

With views over Windermere and the Lakeland fells, The Belsfield brings a beautiful Lake District backdrop to your celebration. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing one wedding here, and the photographs below give you a feel for my wedding photography at The Belsfield.

My approach is friendly, natural and relaxed. You don’t need to know how to pose or feel confident in front of a camera—I’ll offer a little guidance when you need it, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the day with your favourite people.

If that sounds like the kind of photography you’re looking for, tell me your wedding date and a little about your plans.

Real Wedding Photography at The Belsfield Hotel

At Trevor and Emma’s wedding at The Belsfield Hotel, we made use of the gardens facing Lake Windermere for photographs with the lake as a backdrop. We also used the staircase for portraits, giving their collection a lovely mix of indoor and outdoor settings. Both spots gave us a chance to include the character of the venue while keeping Trevor and Emma at the heart of the photographs.

A Wedding Setting Overlooking Windermere

The Belsfield’s position in Bowness-on-Windermere, overlooking the lake and Lakeland fells, gives your photographs a real sense of place.

When planning your portraits, we’ll consider the light, weather and your timetable. You might love photographs with the scenery around you, closer portraits together, or a mixture of both. We’ll make room for those without letting photography take over your day.

Natural, Relaxed Photographs Without Complicated Posing

It’s completely normal to feel a little unsure about being photographed. You don’t need to practise poses or know what to do with your hands—I’ll help when you need it.

Much of the day is about observing what happens naturally. For couple portraits and family photographs, I’ll offer clear, friendly guidance so everyone knows what to do and can get back to enjoying the celebration.

Belsfield Wedding Photography Packages and Prices

Before the day, we’ll talk through your plans, the people you’d like included in family photographs and anything that matters particularly to you. That helps us fit the photography around your wedding.
